Meet Clara Witkos, a Natick mom of two (soon to be three!) and the founder of Blue Hill Stitch, a boutique embroidery company named for the nearby Blue Hills Reservation. Inspired by the beauty of the outdoors and a love of noticing the little things, Clara turned her childhood passion for sewing and crafting into a creative business. She designs timeless, personalized pieces for children, families, and special events. Think heirloom-quality creations that celebrate milestones, traditions, and meaningful moments. Outside of her studio, For Clara, the work isn’t just embroidery, it’s a way to stay present with her family while building a business that fits the rhythm of her busy mom life. Let’s get to know Clara!
Tell us about your family! How many children do you have, where are you from, and where do you live now?
Hi, I’m Clara! My husband, Ray, and I have two little ones, Sophie (2.5), Theodore (4.5), and we’re currently expecting #3 this August! I’m originally from Buzzards Bay and live in South Natick.
What’s your favorite aspect about being part of this community?
My favorite part is how family-centered everything feels. There are so many opportunities to get out with kids, whether it’s a quick trip to the playground or a local event, and you’re always running into familiar faces. It makes a busy stage of life feel a lot more connected and a lot more fun!
What’s your favorite family activity to do in the area?
We love getting outside and exploring. Walks where we can see animals are always a big hit, especially if there are ducks involved. Simple outings like playground time, local farms, going out to eat, or just wandering around town together are some of our favorite family moments.

Tell us more about your background and what inspired you to start Blue Hill Stitch.
Blue Hill Stitch began as a journey of healing and rediscovery. After back-to-back surgeries, I found solace in embroidery, fusing my childhood passion for sewing and crafting with my professional background as a graphic designer. What started as a therapeutic hobby quickly blossomed into something more meaningful, as I saw how each piece brought joy not only to me, but to friends and family.
As I started creating pieces for friends and family, I saw how meaningful personalized details could be. That’s what inspired me to turn it into something more. Today, Blue Hill Stitch is a boutique embroidery business focused on classic, timeless pieces for children, families, and special events.
It’s also allowed me to build a business that fits into my life as a mom. My son has cerebral palsy, so being able to work from home while caring for him, getting him to therapies and appointments, has been incredibly important. Blue Hill Stitch has become both a creative outlet and a way to stay present for my family, which makes it deeply meaningful to me.
What do you love most about what you do?
The personal connection behind every piece. Most orders mark something meaningful, a new baby, a birthday, a special trip, or a family tradition. Knowing something I created becomes part of someone’s memories is incredibly rewarding.
It’s so hard to balance work and mom life. How do you maintain a healthy work life balance?
Running a business while raising little kids definitely keeps me on my toes. I try to build my work around my family’s rhythm, working during naps, evenings, and quiet moments. I’ve also learned that balance doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly, it just means being present where you are in that moment.
What is the best advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
To give yourself grace. There’s always pressure to do everything perfectly, but the truth is that everyone is figuring it out as they go.
What is the best advice you’d like to give a mom?
Trust your instincts. No one knows your child better than you do, and there’s no one “right” way to do motherhood.
